Waste Water

Managing Wastewater Smartly

With 1 in 3 people lacking safe drinking water, industries must act responsibly. Leading water conservation JSW is committed to water conservation through wastewater treatment, reuse, and innovation. Our Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) facilities across all steel plants purify and recycle wastewater, minimizing discharge and promoting sustainability. Treated water is reused in slag cooling, granulation, and horticulture, while recycled water supports irrigation in water-scarce regions. By reducing freshwater intake and maximizing reuse, JSW Steel is actively contributing to resource conservation and a sustainable future.
Water Conservation

Conserve to Preserve

Maximizing water efficiency with advanced recycling and harvesting. JSW prioritizes water conservation as a key sustainability goal. We optimize water use, invest in recycling, and maintain Zero Liquid Discharge across operations. With a specific freshwater consumption target of 2.21 m³/tcs for steel by 2030, we implement efficient technologies, assess water risks, and collaborate with stakeholders to enhance water security. Through rigorous monitoring, regulatory engagement, and proactive mitigation strategies, we safeguard resources while aligning with global best practices, ensuring sustainable water management for the future.
Waste Management

Recycle, Reuse, Revive

Adopting a zero-waste approach through effective recycling. JSW is committed to sustainable waste management by preventing, reusing, and recycling waste. We aim for 100% recycling by 2030, leveraging innovative solutions like converting slag into cement and using steel slag in road construction. Our green cement reduces carbon footprint while promoting a circular economy. With detailed waste audits, targeted action plans, and employee training, we minimize landfill disposal and maximize resource efficiency. Additionally, JSW has eliminated Single-Use Plastics across all locations, reinforcing our commitment to environmental responsibility.
Biodiversity

Restoring nature through biodiversity conservation and green cover. JSW Group is committed to biodiversity conservation, aiming for No Net Loss by 2030. With 16 sites covering 8,176 hectares across our Steel and Iron Ore Mines, we have assessed biodiversity risks and developed action plans for high-risk areas. Our initiatives include the Daroji Bear Sanctuary’s Nature Interpretation Centre, mangrove conservation, and the Million Tree Plantation Project. Partnering with BNHS and PFE, we promote biodiversity awareness and habitat restoration. Our JSW Miyawaki Park has transformed an industrial zone into a thriving urban forest. We prioritize sustainability, ecosystem resilience, and regulatory compliance.
